Globally the species is distributed in India, SriLanka, South East Asia and Malesia. In India, it is found in North India, Sikkim and Peninsular India. This speices is globally distributed in Indo-Malesia. Within India, it is found in moist deciduous forests, scrub jungles, hedges and degraded sites from Upper Gangetic plains of North India to Assam and Peninsular India.
